Using Number Talks to Build Procedural Fluency through Conceptual Understanding
Abstract
Effective mathematics instruction needs to provide opportunities for students to build procedural fluency through conceptual understanding. Number talks provide a brief, daily opportunity for students to discuss, connect and develop their strategies for solving problems. Through these activities students will develop fluency from a deeper level of understanding.References
