Taking Teaching out of the Equation with Technology

Abstract

In this creative non-fiction essay, the authors share experiences from a morning visit with preservice mathematics teachers at a local high school. Through a series of vignettes, the authors share positive and negative encounters with technology as they pose rich questions to students (and their teacher) in a remedial algebra classroom and observe the use of classroom management software (CMS) with the same students.
