Culturally Responsive Teaching: Connecting Mathematics to Art
Abstract
This paper presents an activity whose objective was to help teachers begin to understand how they can make their lesson culturally responsive in addition to helping students learn important mathematical concepts. This article provides preservice teachers with a specific way to connect mathematics to everyday contexts and to incorporate students’ interests and culture in their teaching.
